Legend has it that during the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644 AD), Emperor Wanli fell seriously ill. The emperor's condition continued to worsen until a group of travellers stumbled upon his palace. These travellers were the cultivators of the tea gardens in the Wuyi Mountains.

THE SILVER LINING

Shou Mei white tea has a unique history tied to the Ming Dynasty (1368-1644). During this period, it was primarily produced from the leaves that remained after the more delicate and prized Silver Needle and White Peony teas had been harvested. These larger and slightly more mature leaves were carefully plucked and processed to create Shou Mei tea.
