Tie Guan Yin - A Divine Revelation

Tie Guan Yin, also known as Iron Goddess of Mercy, is a renowned Chinese oolong tea originating from the Fujian province. The legend surrounding Tie Guan Yin tells of a poor farmer who discovered a dilapidated temple dedicated to the Bodhisattva Guanyin. After restoring the temple, he was rewarded with a vision of Guanyin, who instructed him to cultivate a special tea. The farmer followed her guidance, and the resulting tea was so exceptional that it gained popularity, leading to its eventual name, Tie Guan Yin.

In the late 1800s, Tie Guan Yin began to be commercially produced and exported, gaining recognition for its unique flavor profile, which combines floral notes with a creamy texture. Over the years, various cultivation and processing techniques have emerged, leading to different grades and styles of Tie Guan Yin, each with its own distinct characteristics.
