Originating in the scenic Anxi County of Fujian province, China, this tea has a legacy that stretches back centuries. Legend has it that during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1912 AD), a poor farmer discovered a run-down temple with an iron statue of the goddess of mercy, Guanyin. Inspired by the dilapidated state of the temple, the farmer decided to clean and restore it. In gratitude, the goddess Guanyin appeared to the farmer in a dream and revealed a hidden treasure: a tea plant.
